Description:

Watch out Hamilton! There is something saucy oozing its way into your neighborhood and mine. She’s knocking down houses, uprooting trees, and stealing our backyards right from under our noses. Who is she? The evil genetic mishap, Saucy Sue. But never fear! The Mighty Maggie May will defend us on the battleground of Urban Sprawl!

Maggie May and Saucy Sue is the story of Maggie May, an agoraphobic introvert with secret magnetic superpowers and her arch enemy, genetically modified land developer, Saucy Sue. Maggie May’s simple rural existence with her turtle Raburtle is threatened when Saucy Sue moves into the neighborhood with bulldozers in toe. Maggie May’s home is the last plot to be acquired by Saucy Sue who aspires to destroy the Neighbourhood and let Urban Sprawl reign! Like Wiley Coyote after the Road Runner, Saucy Sue contrives intricate plots, employing an array of disguises to fool Maggie May into giving up her modest home for a spectacular condominium. Written and performed by Hamilton natives Erin Shields and Kathy Zaborsky, directed by Sasha Wentges, with opening act by Christopher Eckart, this superhero battle of epic proportions is not to be missed.

Suitcase in Point Theatre Company is proud to be presenting Maggie May and Saucy Sue at the Staircase Café and Theatre, this spring. We are a multidisciplinary group of artists that create and produce contemporary performance projects. The company was founded in January of 2001 in St. Catharines and has since created and toured several productions to Hamilton, Toronto, Guelph, St. Catharines and London.
