Description:

Suitcase in Point is proud to announce the premiere of Zarina of Art at Rodman Hall Arts Centre this January. This new play is the poetic account of a young St. Catharines woman who reveals the tale of her recent break-up. In her effort to understand this loss she attempts a painting that articulates the emotional plain of her despairing experience. Living in poverty she is unable to afford the colours needed to finish her work. Her story is compelling and touches on struggles with addiction and the human need for love.

Edwin Conroy's story is written poetically with a keen insight on human nature that is captured in its absurd and imagistic style. This interdisciplinary piece, directed by Natasha Pedros, has an emphasis on physically expressive performance and integrates live music which creates Zarina's emotional soundtrack and a soundscape reflective of the city. This play is sure to entertain and move audiences.
