Suitcase In Point: Risk, Celebration, Growth, and Community Mission: Suitcase In Point (SIP) is more than a theatre company: We are a working example of cooperation between theatre and the community. Each collaboration is a risk we undertake so that we face the unknown. We are a celebration of possibility. The result is an incredibly diverse and continually growing spectrum of work that can be shared with a local and global community. Mandate: We are a group of ten artists based in St. Catharines, Ontario. Our aim is to reflect on the world around us and celebrate the potential for growth. We believe in the necessity of asking questions, promoting dialogue and engaging broad and diverse communities in compelling and provocative ways. Our work expands upon existing concepts of performance through our use of adventurous movement, digital media, video installation, live music, the visual arts and zine publication. Whether it is an original work, theatrical adaptation or a re-interpretation of a classical text, SIP is always challenging form to find the best possible way to articulate current ideas. Our work is shown in a variety of contexts, appropriate to the individual projects, ranging from theatres to public sites and art galleries. The way SIP works is continually evolving, but one thing that is constant is our commitment to collaboration. We are a group that has literally grown together. We share a history, as well as, a set of skills that matures through exploratory process and equal involvement in the creative process. |
